There are very few toys that can last more than a few minutes in our home. In fact, I think the reason we started doing our online channels is just to make enough money to replace the toys that are endlessly destroyed, torn, de-fluffed, de-squeakered, and criminally violated by our strong pitties. If you have pit bulls or any other large, strong-jawed sport breed of dog you know exactly what we mean. You also know that good toys cost real money- and great toys cost REAL money particularly when you replace them over and over.

We are going to count our favorite toys for total destruction backwards to #1. These aren't products we are using just because the description or the hype says they are fantastic and long-lasting purchases. We have purchased these toys and used them ourselves, and they have really blown us away at how long-lasting and tough they have proved to be.

5. Barkbox Toys for Aggressive Chewers- Captain Parrot.

Our dogs absolutely LOVE these toys. Essentially they are durable rubber inside with a hollow area for treat dispensing, but then covered with a vibrant but tough fabric on the outside. Both of our Pit Bulls love ripping fabric away from all toys and these were no different. Some of the rubber inside is usually visible when the toy is new and you can typically feel the rubber through the fabric. Once the fabric is torn off, you can fill the cavity with favorite treats or let your babies chew on the sharp corners (like the beak, pictured above). Great toy with multiple life-cycles for your toughest chewers.

4. KONG Jumbler Ball Toy for Aggressive Chewers.

Big dogs love to play rough, especially with big sports balls. Unfortunately, our dogs have absolutely destroyed soccer balls, basketballs, countless tennis balls, and footballs. These Jumbler toys from KONG are a perfect solution. They are super tough and have multiple handles for teeth so that multiple dogs can grab and tug at the same time. In a house with four dogs like ours, this is a HUGE bonus. Additionally the toy houses a tennis ball on the inside to provide another stimulus for your pet friends to keep them engaged. My large pittie Marshall likes to grab these and head shake with them and play keep away from his brothers and sisters.

3. Ruff Dawg Peanut Crunch Rubber Dog Toy.

This is one of our favorites! Unlike most of the toys for aggressive chewers or dogs with big jaws and teeth which tend to use hard rubber with a really dense feel, this toy is light, soft, and fun. Firstly, it is essentially a peanut-shaped toy with an empty cavity and a small opening at the top about the size of our dogs' kibble. We can fill it with approximately 1/2 cup of kibble and let the dogs play with it. Breeds like pitties and other sporting or hunting breeds love having play time mix with snuffling or searching for their food, and this toy keeps our dogs curious for hours. ln addition, it also has a crunchy sound when they bite it much like an empty water bottle. We've had this toy for years and it looks essentially brand new.

2. Mammoth TireBiter Tough Tire.

Not every toy needs to be advanced, colorful, or feature space-aged materials. Nothing beats a tire toy for your tough chewers. Why? They love the fact that it rolls and tumbles when they play, they can grab it easily and carry it around the house or yard, and it works great for a game of tug in multi-family homes. Our oldest pittie Maggie also loves it when we use this tire like a dog bowl and put kibble inside the opening. She flips it over and over exposing the kibble like her own little game. We have also used peanut butter or yogurt inside the groove and frozen it for an engaging and healthy treat. Our tire basically looks brand new in a home full of dead and empty toys.

  1. Jolly Pets Push-n-Play Ball.

Our dogs absolutely LOVE a larger ball, but their strong jaws and sharp teeth penetrate through your typical sports ball. I bought this and hoped it would last one or two days. Two years later, and we still play with it in the yard a few times a week. When I pull this big red ball out of our toy box, everyone goes nuts! It's a little on the heavy side, but for a big dog it's easily manageable. It has also proven to be basically indestructible. We play soccer in the yard and I try my best to play keep away from all four dogs. We punt it across the yard and they return it back after chasing each other trying to see who can win the certain struggle. Best toy we have ever purchased!

Keep in mind that not every dog plays with toys the same way. I'm sure we have toys that have proven to be indestructible for other dog owners and our dogs went through them in minutes. However, our pups are pretty rough on toys and these have lasted for years for us. Love to hear your comments!
